ABOUT THE ARTIST
Bülent Evren (Isparta, November 6, 1955) is a Dutch visual artist of Turkish origin.
Evren studied between 1975 and 1979 in Paris. He followed his art education from 1981 to 1983 at Ateliers '63 in Haarlem. Since then he has been based in Amsterdam. Shortly after his studies, he twice participated in exhibitions in the Paleis op de Dam. This was followed by many solo and group exhibitions at galleries and museums. He designed sets for theatre performances, was a guest teacher at the Rietveld Academy and (co-)organizer of various exhibitions and art projects.
He mainly paints with oil paint on aluminum plates cut to shape. The mythological war god Ares and Aphrodite, the goddess of love, play important roles in his paintings.
